Genesis Elijah Opens Bandcamp Site With A Bang

Last night Genesis Elijah decided to set up a Bandcamp site but instead of just putting up music the fans already had he decided to put up a rare lost EP called 'Pimp Principle'

The 5 track EP was well received buy his supporters and was downloaded over 200 times within a matter of hours.

The EP was originally released in 2005 but fell of the radar after Genesis Elijah's website GenesisElijah.com was taken off line after a label change. He told a fan on facebook that he hadn't heard it himself in four years. Check out WWW.GENESISELIJAH.BANDCAMP.COM for this free download.

New Genesis Elijah Track 'Still Here' Gets The Industry Talking

Earlier last week Genesis Elijah put up a link to a song that he had done for Professor P's mixtape 'Pro P Files Vol 2'. Not long after the song had the internet buzzing with people discussing the concept and context of the the track.

The song 'Still Here' basically talks about how the UK Hip-Hop scene has changed over the last few years and explains why it's still relevant. Genesis comments on the changing landscape with lines like "Things done changed, the Terra Firma line up's different. Kyza's with Orphans of Cush and they're killing it" which is a direct reference to the much publicised Terra Firma brake up.

Other artist shouted out on this track include The Peoples Army, Lowkey, Logic, Mr Drastic, Joker Starr, Shystie, Giggs, Scorsayzee, Sway, Task Force, Mud Fam, Blak Twang, Rodney P, Estelle, Tinchy Stryder & Stig Of The Dump.

The track is doing the rounds on the net right now as well as getting a lot of love on the radio so check it out and see what all the fuss is about.

Genesis Elijah Features On Brand New Grit Grammar Track

Grit Grammar Feat Genesis Elijah
‘Hard Times’
(Produced by Baron Samedi)
(BTS Recordings)

Grit Grammar is a name that has been bubbling for the last few years ever since he dropped his debut street album‘Reflections In The Dark’ in 2008. This release was well received by both DJ’s and the media, gaining positive reviews and feedback. Now just over a year later, Grit Grammar is ready to get the ball rolling with the release of his debut album ‘Life Music’. The first track to be released from this album is the amazing Baron Samedi produced banger ‘Hard Times’ which features Genesis Elijah which has already been causing a stir on the underground and has already been championed by Charlie Sloth on BBC 1Xtra. The single also comes with a music video which will be available in the next few weeks, so be on the look out for that. The album ‘Life Music’ which drops later in the year on his own BTS Recordings is entirely produced by the talented Baron Samedi and features Kyza, Verb-t, Genesis Elijah, Iron Braydz and more. This is already being tipped as one of the biggest UK releases of 2010 and with this single you can see why…

Vintage Genesis Elijah Footage

The year was around 2000 and a group of MC's known as the Boiler Room Collective stood at the gates of the UK Hip-Hop kingdom ready to storm the castle...Or something like that.

I have to admit this was probably the best time of my life as far as being able to make music when I wanted (I lived with producer Tom Caruana) and being around creative people. We all lived around North West London at the time and all we did was write rhymes, make tracks and perform at local events. The main Boiler Room Collective members were Tom Caruana, Drama, Teej, Ahmos, AC, Terra Slim, and Me. Overqualified ( Crucifix & Tsunami NKA Bounce) were also affiliates along with Red Master, Syntax and a few other that I can't really remember.

Anyway here's the footage...

So I guess the question is where are they all now? Well lets go through the list...

AC & Terra went on to release two albums and have sold around 50,000 copies around the UK and europe. AC and Terra Slim have since gone their separate ways and have been releasing solo projects for the last three years. Terra Slim is currently living and working with a label out it Amsterdam.

Ahmos went on to become a sound engineer and producer working with artist from all over the world. He released some tracks with Roots Manuva's label Banana Klan and is recording a album with them at the moment as well as sound engineering for various UK television channels.

Teej went to india to work with orphans and is currently a hippie...Nah jokes (The hippie part not the kids part, he really did help kids) I'm not sure what he's up to. Probably killing mics somewhere...

DR Syntax hooked up with some guy called Stig and they have pretty much been running the underground scene ever since.

Overqualified went there separate ways. Crucifix has just put out a sick EP The Cornerstone with The Krate Krusaders and Tsunami changed his name to Bounce and is currently making some banging beats.

The last time I saw Drama was in Harrow about 5 years ago. Not sure what he's up to.

And last but not least the man who made it happen Tom Caruana. He's been running Tea Sea records for the last few years and making some pretty sick music.

Oh I almost forgot about the young skinny 20 year old with the bunches in his hair they called Genesis Elijah. Well he went on to release a little album called 'Deh Pon Road' then a mixtape then...You'll have to keep checking this blog for the rest of his story.

Big shout to all The Boiler Room Collective and all the old affiliates. Thanks for the memories,

Genesis Elijah Featured On The Semtex & Rob Thomas 'Passed Out' Mixtape

Unless you been living under a rock you probably heard Tinie Tempah's chart topping banger 'Pass Out' and unless that rock was under another rock you've probably heard that every MC and his brother has jumped on the 'Pass Out' riddim. But what only about 5000 of you know is that Genesis Elijah did his own version called 'Truth Out' and it's been getting some pretty good compliments from a lot of people including Tinie Tempah himself.

So now DJ Semtex & Rob Thomas have had the idea of choosing there favourite versions and putting them all on one mixtape.

On here you'll find versions from AFRIKAN BOY, AWATE, BASHY, CHERRI V, DISPATCH, JAKMAN, MISTA MEE, MURKY KURK, FEM FEL, GAPPY RANKS, JAMMER, FREDDY KRUGER, KMD, KRUTCH, NATHAN (Courtesy DJ Grind), PRINCESS NYAH, RANDOM IMPULSE, ROB KELLY, SHANNY, SAM KHAN, SCORCHER, SHYSTIE, SKIBADEE & HARRY SHOTTA, STYLAH as well as the one and only Genesis Elijah.

So who's version is the best? Well that's up for the debate but the fact is Tinie Tempah made the riddim and we can all agree that it's the hottest one out right now.

Genesis Elijah To Support US Underground Hip-Hop Legend Canibus On His UK Tour

It seem's like Genesis Elijah is on a roll these days as the list of US acts he supports continues to grow on an almost weekly basis. This time the artist is US underground Hip-Hop legend Canibus. Canibus rose to infamy after his much publicised lyrical battle with icon LL Cool J (Second Round Knockout) and has continued to verbally attack rappers to this day.

Canibus has recently released his ninth studio album 'Melatonin Magik' and will be over in the UK in May to promote it.

Genesis Elijah is fast becoming the support act "go to guy" and with his trademark energy packed stage show teamed with the the lyrical beast that is Canibus this tour is looking like it's gonna be a big one. We'll have the date posted up as soon as they're finalised.
